Cestrian Bowl X - The Championship Format

Good afternoon Gents,

What a start to the NFL Season! Bills and Chiefs aside everything else has been complete mayhem and massively unpredictable, just the way we like it.

I’ve had a good look at the leagues this morning and things are looking competitive across the board. Every single team still can put a run together and be in the mix for the Championship, so it seems like a good time to explain exactly how we are going to crown this year’s Winner.

What I am about to explain can be pretty complicated if you haven’t seen it before. Please feel free to ask questions on the WhatsApp group or if you’d prefer, it’s cool to message me or your league commissioner direct. We’ve tried to deliver a really challenging competition this year so appreciate it is a lot to take in.

State of play

We have now completed 6 full weeks of the regular fantasy season; this means there are 8 weeks to go before the final league placings and playoff births are finalised. Once we have playoff standings decided we will move into a 4-week playoff format from weeks 15-18 which will allow us to crown the overall Cestrian Bowl X Champion.

Last year we introduced a second competition “The Commissioners Shield” for the teams that finish outside of the top 6 in their respective leagues. We will be bringing this back again this year with a cash prize awarded for the winner and runner up.

The basic structure for this year’s competition is detailed below and is illustrated here - https://www.cestrianbowl.com/cbxplayoffs

Week 1 -14 – Regular Season

Week 15 – Wild Card Week

Week 16 – Divisional Round

In week 17 we will have 3 Conference Championship games with the winners of each game crowned the DFC, HFC or WFC Champion respectively.

Then finally in week 18 the 3 Champions of each conference will face off in a highest scoring team wins it all final to crown the overall Cestrian Bowl IX Champion.

****PLAYOFF FORMAT – COMMISSIONERS SHIELD****

In week 15 the 7th and 8th placed teams from each conference will receive a bye whilst 9th place will play 12th and 10th will play 11th. The winners from each quarter Final will progress to the week 16 Semi Finals with the lowest remain seed playing the 1 seed and the highest remaining seed playing the 2 seed.

Finally in week 17 we will have 2 Conference Championship games with the winner of each game awarded their choice of draft position in the 2022 Cestrian Bowl, as a result of this the 2 Conference winners will play in different conferences next year. The team that has the highest weekly score across the Final 4 in week 17 will be the winner and Inaugural Commissioners Shield winner.
